Connected Community Luncheon
“Seeding STEM & Fostering IT Innovation”
Please join us for our Connected Community Luncheon on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, Texas. This is the first in a series of events connecting our community to on-point and newsworthy topics that benefit the attendees and the organizations they represent. Keynote speaker Ron Guerrier, CIO of Farmers Insurance, (former CIO, Toyota Financial) will explore changes in the IT field and how to prepare us for the future of the industry. Also joining us to speak on the impact of the tech industry are City of Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere and Richardson ISD Assistant Superintendent over Technology Sandra Hayes.
The Connected Community Luncheon benefits Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CISDR), Since 1985, this organization, in partnership with local school districts, has worked to address the needs of “at-risk” students. CISDR’s Site Coordinators are located on select campuses of high-need elementary, middle and high schools, accessible to students every day. Our full-time professional staff is responsible for day-to-day program implementation at no cost to students, with supports ranging from individualized tutoring, behavioral counseling, and truancy diversion, social services, parenting education, crisis management and college/career preparation.
CISDR’s goal is to bring top of mind topics to the community, to encourage discussions and debates on those subjects that affect our neighborhoods, families, community and our entire region. We are starting this luncheon series with the IT field. From here, we have already identified subjects that will be introduced for future luncheons, but for now, join us as we discuss how today’s STEM education will affect tomorrow’s IT leaders.
