Press Release:

Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region Names Dr. Summer Rose as CEO

DALLAS – May 20, 2025 – The Board of Directors of Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CIS Dallas) announced the official appointment of Dr. Summer Rose as Chief Executive Officer of the organization, effective June 1. Dr. Rose had served as Interim CEO since January 2025 and previously held the role of the organization’s first Chief Clinical Officer.

A licensed psychologist in the state of Texas, Dr. Rose brings more than 16 years of experience in youth mental health, education, and nonprofit leadership. Since joining CIS Dallas in 2022, she has launched and led the organization’s Clinical Program, significantly expanding mental health services across more than 10 school districts. Her leadership has been instrumental in embedding trauma-informed, data-driven practices that prioritize student well-being across North Texas.

“Dr. Rose’s deep understanding of our mission and her unwavering commitment to our staff and students made her a natural choice,” said Luisa del Rosal, Chair of the Board of Directors. “What stood out even more was her courage in facing challenges head-on, her transparent and thoughtful leadership style, and her ability to engage others with clarity and respect. The Board is confident in her vision and capacity to lead us into the future. Personally, I’d say she’s exemplified the bold, principled leadership our organization needs from day one, especially as we mark our 40th anniversary and look ahead to the next chapter of impact.”

Prior to her work with CIS Dallas, Dr. Rose spent over a decade at Momentous Institute, where she provided therapy to families, served as Assessment Coordinator, and supervised psychologists-in-training.

Dr. Rose earned a Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Chicago Campus. She steps into this leadership role during a pivotal moment, as CIS Dallas celebrates 40 years of service to students and families across North Texas in 2025.

“While leading a nonprofit organization was not part of my original career path, my commitment to the well-being of children and families has been a constant throughout my professional journey,” said Dr. Rose. “I’ve truly found my home at Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region, where I’m surrounded by dedicated, like-minded individuals who share the mission of meeting students and families exactly where they are. I am deeply honored to lead this passionate team as we continue to set the next generation of leaders up for success by expanding our proven programs in K-12 schools. CIS Dallas has been dedicated to supporting children for 40 years, and I am privileged to guide us into the next 40 years of impactful work across North Texas and beyond.”

CIS Dallas continues to prioritize expanding access to student-centered support throughout North Texas. With a clear vision for the future, the organization remains dedicated to building a more equitable and inclusive educational landscape where every student has the resources and relationships they need to succeed academically and beyond the classroom.
