Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity dedicated to supporting K-12 students both in school and beyond, has raised a record $152,000 for its 9th Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving, Texas. This year’s event includes social distancing measures to keep players healthy while they tee off for safer students and stronger schools.

Drive-thru registration for the tournament begins at 10:30, with players’ carts preloaded with box lunches and gift bags, to minimize unnecessary interactions. After a shotgun start at 12:00 noon, the tournament will proceed as usual with an 18-hole scramble format. The tournament will conclude with a golf cart “drive-in” banquet dinner and an app-based silent auction, allowing players to enjoy the tournament in safety.

“CISDR acts as a ‘safety net’ to students facing isolation in school and virtual classrooms, so it’s only fitting that we provide a safe environment for our players as well,” said Cameron Hernholm, CISDR’s Chief Advancement Officer. “The record donations we’ve received this fall show that our supporters are ready to return to normalcy, and with their generous gifts, we can help our kids cope with the ‘new normal’ as well.”

For 35 years, CISDR has had professional staff on K-12 campuses across the Dallas region, helping students with academics, behavior and attendance. When schools shut down in March, the agency pivoted to distance learning and tele-counseling. By coordinating and collaborating with schools, districts, community partners and other nonprofits, CISDR has continued to help students with basic needs, online learning, and mental/behavioral health.

Started in 2011, the CISDR Golf Tournament is made possible by Title Sponsor Flowserve and Presenting Sponsors Ryan and AT&T, as well as Diamond Sponsor KPMG and Platinum Sponsor PwC. Sponsorships are available at Platinum through Bronze levels, as well as promotional opportunities. For more information, contact Cameron Hernholm at CameronH@cisdallas.org or 214-837-0955 ext. 267.
