Strategic Plan

As the school year began in September of 2024, Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region hosted stakeholders from across the community, to listen to local educational leaders (Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, Superintendant of Dallas ISD; Miguel Solis, President of The Commit Partnership; and Adam Powell, President and CEO of Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region)  discuss pressing topics in public education. Alanna Quillen of NBC DFW moderated a thoughtful discussion on how to best care for student needs.

“It is necessary that we invest in our children, our future leaders.” – Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, Superintendant of Dallas ISD

“Be present… get involved, get engaged. Be present in your child’s educational journey.” – Adam Powell, President and CEO of Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region

“Be aware of the key points in a kid’s life. Stick with them on the path.” – Miguel Solis, President of The Commit Partnership

“Right now, about half of the students that we serve have identified as having some kind of mental health challenge. ” – Adam Powell, President and CEO of Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region

From the discussion, CIS Dallas then reviewed its new five-year strategic plan and program focus areas we are committed to supporting. The below document showcases these deepened program areas, and the resources and support it will take to provide them to our students.

Family Engagement

Our team works directly with parents and caregivers of CIS case-managed students, through parent workshops, home visits, and basic need referral services.

  • $85 provides one family engagement session at a CIS-supported school.
  • $380 provides home visits for an entire semester, to engage with families and learn how we can support student and family needs.
  • $27,000 provides the support of a Family Engagement Director across CIS schools for one semester.
